Acrylic paints were invented in about 1950 in Mexico. They became quite popular with the emergence of a society of consumers and the Pop Art movement. Acrylics are the most popular paint today because they are easy to dilute with water, they dry quickly and they are resistant to ageing. Pebeo made its mark in the history of acrylics in 1992 with its Studio brand of paints packaged in plastic tubes. Properties:
o Colours: Bright, deep, richly pigmented, they can be mixed together and have a satin finish and very good lightfastness
o Thick consistency
o It is permanent after drying, and the film is strong and flexible to deformation
o Thinner: Water, but this results in a loss of consistency, or Bindex Gloss Studio Acrylics binder
o Cleaning the tools: With water before drying
o Drying: Away from dust, dry to the touch in 30 minutes to 1 hour and completely dry in 1-8 days depending on the thickness
Applications: Studio Acrylics High Viscosity is adapted for working with the material on canvas, cardboard, wood, metal, ... It retains the brush or spatula marks and it is used pure with acrylic mediums or the Studio Auxiliaries which further broaden the creative possibilities.
Studio Acrylics Dyna colours are obtained from effect pigments, called pearl. Pearl pigments are composed of sheets of different materials with different refractive indices, which transmit part of the light and reflect another part, lending the effect obtained: Iridescent or pearl.
When it comes to dimensional work nothing beats Studio High Viscosity acrylic paint, with its thick consistency and satin finish, it retains brush or spatula marks. Studio Fluid Acrylic, which is fluid with a satin finish, is suitable for detailed work. Applied with a brush, it can be used for fine, regular lines, glaze effects and watercolour effects.
