The use of heat to cure colors is one of the main differences between Createx Airbrush Colors and Wicked & Auto Air Colors which cure to a much stronger film with air drying alone (referred to as self-cross linking). Createx are made with exterior-grade (automotive) pigments allowing them to withstand prolonged exposure to direct, outdoor light without fading. For maximum permanence, a top-coat should be applied over the paint after curing.
Wicked Colors is an ultra-high performance, multi-surface airbrush paint suitable for any substrate from fabric to automotive applications. Wicked Colors are perfect for t-shirts, automotive graphics, illustration and most any application. Wicked contains mild amounts of solvent inter-mixed with a durable, exterior-grade resign and automotive pigments for an extremely durable paint that withstands direct, prolonged exposure to outdoors elements without washing or fading.
Wicked Colors have exceptional flow and atomization right out of the bottle with most airbrush tip-sizes, including 0.2mm detail tips. Wicked Colors may be reduced with reduced with Wicked W500 or Auto Air 4012 High Performance Reducer in any ratio for improved flow, atomization and customizing viscosity preferences.
All Wicked Colors are made with the same highly durable binder. Wicked Colors are sheered to a binder size of 0.5 microns and dry semi-gloss level of 70+ degrees. Wicked Detail Colors are sheered to a particle size of 0.1 microns and dry to a flat finish of 30+ degrees, perfect for illustrators as a flat finish reflects the color’s true hue.
For automotive refinishing, a durable, catalyzed urethane clear is recommended. Wicked Colors cure to a strong film with air drying alone. Heat may be used to further assist curing and is recommended for t-shirts and fabrics intended for use with multiple washings. Heat is not required for automotive, illustration and most other applications.

If you are chooswhat paints to use for 3-5 year olds, you will need to consider more than just the price. Brush & Finger Paint has been formulated with young children in mind. The colours are bright, and intermixable, as well as being safe.
When children are young, paint doesn't always end up where it is meant to go. Paint will end up on clothes, despite aprons. It will end up on the floor, despite drop cloths, and when you're not looking, it will end up in young children's mouths. Obviously Brush & Finger Paint are not designed to be eaten - but kids will be kids, so keeping this in mind our Brush and Finger Paint range has been improved and specially formulated, just in case.
Derivan Brush & Finger paints are easy to clean up off children's clothes, while the paint is still wet it will easily come out of most fabrics (however, suitable clothing should be worn as some staining may occur).
In addition to 10 basic colours, there are also 5 glitter paints, ideal for creating gifts for special occasions.
Try out our marble painting activity, using Brush & Finger Paint.
Matisse Fluid is our most liquid-like paint, yet despite its texture, it is highly pigmented. Each colour has an ASTM rating of I or II indicating Very Good lightfastness to Excellent Lightfastness and are completely opaque when used directly from the container. Matisse Fluid is available in a brilliant range of 35 colours and they are completely compatible with our Structure and Flow formula paints, can be either blended together or used by itself on the same artwork.
Matisse Fluid Acrylics, have a very smooth, runny but slightly dense viscosity. Being highly pigmented, the colours will appear dark and intense on initial application but can be spread easily with a brush or mixed with water to reveal the colour graduation.
The intensity of the colour is what makes Matisse Fluid ideal for tinting. the consistency allows precise drop-by-drop addition to any of the Matisse range of acrylic paints and the precise ratio of tint to paint can be easily replicated.
This is the third tier in the Matisse range of Artists acrylic Paints. The thickest is Matisse Structure Formula, which has a thick dense consistency ideal for impasto techniques, followed by the Matisse Flow Formula range with its smooth cream-like texture and a thinner viscosity to allow free flowing brushstrokes or use through an airbrush (with minimal dilution). This allows the paint to be used for fine brushwork with or without water dilution. This paint gives a fine flow with a low-sheen finish and good levelling.
For general art education. Great for teaching colour mixing, producing strong pure secondary and tertiary colours. Smooth buttery consistency. Can be used for screen printing, block printing and painting from impasto to water-colour effects.
Derivan Student has been manufactured since 1964. As part of our commitment to producing only the best products, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our paints for you the artists. That is why Derivan Student acrylic is now made using a pure acrylic binder. This gives you the advantage of a quality acrylic paint at a student price.
Derivan Student acrylic washes up in water. For stain removal, wash in lukewarm soapy water. However, some staining may occur.
Acrylic Painting
Use straight from the tubes. Water is suitable for dilution or clean-up. Both gloss and water resistance are greatly improved by additions of Derivan Polymer Varnish to the paint.
Poster Colour Effects
These are best obtained by mixing the paint with plenty of Derivan White, at the same time adjusting the sheen of the paint with Matisse MM5 Matt Medium. Alternatively the finished painting is treated with a coating of one of the Matisse Matt Varnishes available.
Watercolour Work
Just add water to the paint but mix it slowly to avoid foaming. Apply with a soft brush. Additions of Derivan Spreader Medium will improve brush control for delicate flat water colour glazes. Derivan Drying Retarder is often beneficial as it maintains water sensitivity for washes and at the same time improves flow as well as penetration into the paper.
Oil Painting Effects
Extend the paint with Derivan Impasto medium for structure and with water-based Derivan Polymer Varnish for increased gloss or desired flow-out. Apply with a knife or bristle brush.
"Derivan Challenge meets all government and regulatory requirements for toxicity levels. An excellent vehicle to introduce young children to the world of art and painting: safe to use, and easy to clean up after use."

Derivan Challenge is available in easy to use 500 ml bottles and a convenient 2 litre recyclable Eco-Pak soft pouch.
Derivan Challenge can be made waterproof by the addition of Derivan Polymer Gloss Varnish (water-based).
Derivan Challenge will not crack or peel and may be intermixed to produce bright secondary and tertiary colours.
This product conforms to Australian Standard AS 8124.7-2003, Safety of toys Part 7 – Finger paints, (as required by Trade Practices Act 1974 - Consumer Protection Notice No. 1 of 2009 - Consumer Product Safety Standard: Lead and Certain Elements in Children's Toys) and EN71 part 1 and 3.

Cleanup
Wash all utensils, brushes and hands with soap and water to clean up.
Fluid Acrylics are highly intense, permanent acrylic colors with a consistency similar to heavy cream. Produced from lightfast pigments, not dyes, they offer very strong colors with very thin consistencies. No fillers or extenders are added and the pigment load is comparable to GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics.
Unlike mixtures of heavy-bodied paints and water which produce weak color and films by dilution, Fluid Acrylics contain high pigment levels suspended in an acrylic polymer vehicle. The result offers fine dispersion, high tinting strength, durability, flexibility and good adhesion. Fluid Acrylics are ideal for spraying, brushing, staining, and can be mixed with other GOLDEN Products. Blend with Airbrush Medium for spray application. Excellent for fabric application.
Equal the intensity of GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics but with an even, flowing characteristic useful for dry brush application, fine details, pouring, spraying (particularly when mixed with GOLDEN Airbrush Medium), staining techniques and many others.
Fluids are created by loading an acrylic polymer binder with concentrated levels of quality pigments for a wide selection of permanent and lightfast colors. No fillers or extenders are added to achieve the desired consistency, nor is the fluid quality achieved with additional water. GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics have the same pigment load as the Heavy Body Acrylics, but in a viscosity similar to heavy cream. Fluids allow for smooth flowing applications while retaining color intensity, tinting strength, film integrity, and adhesion.Fluids blend easily with all acrylic colors, and readily tint gels, mediums, gessoes and grounds. Fluid Acrylics are extremely versatile, and ideal for fine brushwork, glazing, staining, water media techniques and many more. Mix Fluid Acrylics with Airbrush Medium for airbrush application of artwork including textiles.
The original line of GOLDEN Artist Acrylics is known for its exceptionally smooth, thick buttery consistency. It contains the largest assortment of unique pure pigments in a 100% acrylic emulsion vehicle available to the professional artist. These colors offer excellent permanency and lightfastness. There are no fillers, extenders, opacifiers, toners, or dyes added.
Each Heavy Body color is formulated differently depending on the nature of the pigment. Colors that tolerate higher pigment "loads" dry to a more opaque, matte finish. Colors that are more reactive and do not accept high pigment loading dry to a glossy finish and tend to be more transparent. Heavy Body colors contain no additives, such as matting agents, therefore the gloss of each color will be different.
GOLDEN Neutral Grays are Heavy Body Acrylics designed according to the Munsell Color System. The Munsell System divides the color wheel into a three-dimensional color-space, shaped like a distorted "egg," in which all colors are separated by their Chroma, Value and Hue. The GOLDEN Neutral Grays are made following this system, using a spectrophotometer to ensure they have graduated steps within a very tight tolerance range. They are Achromatic, meaning that they have no distinguishable hue or chroma, only value. On the Munsell "egg," a Neutral Gray falls directly in the center, with whites on top and blacks toward the bottom.White and black represent the two value extremes. Mixing them together will produce a gray; whether or not it is a Neutral Gray depends on the pigments used. In most cases, a true neutral will not be produced; it will likely shift towards one direction of hue and/or chroma (i.e. warmer or cooler). GOLDEN Neutral Grays have been adjusted to stay absolutely neutral. Painting with the Neutral Grays, Bone Black and Titanium White, you create a study without chroma or hue. Use with any one color to produce a monochromatic study. Several colors mixed with the same Neutral Gray and in the same ratio will produce colors with similar value (depending on the colors' own current values).
GOLDEN Iridescent Acrylics are one of the most unique products available to artists today. They offer highly reflective metallic variations when mixed with GOLDEN colors. The GOLDEN Iridescent colors achieve their reflective properties by synthetically reproducing several natural phenomena - the nacreous, or pearlescent, qualities found in fish scales or the dust of a butterfly's wing, and the shiny and reflective qualities found in certain metals and minerals.
"Coarse" Iridescent colors are simply larger particle size versions of our "Fine" Iridescent products. Coarse colors in the Iridescent line include Copper, Copper Light, Gold and Pearl.
All of GOLDEN's Iridescent colors produce a luster quality by themselves, or when mixed with other colors and mediums. The GOLDEN line of Iridescents can be separated into 3 groups based on chemical composition.
Group I: These colors are derived from mica platelets. They are then coated with an extremely thin layer of titanium dioxide. Refraction and reflection of light at the titanium dioxide layers produces various colors and pearlescent effects. Group 1 pigments include Iridescent Pearl (Coarse and Fine).
Group II: These colors are also derived from mica platelets, but an iron oxide coating causes Group II pigments to possess hues in addition to pearlescent qualities. This group includes Iridescent Gold (Coarse and Fine), Iridescent Copper and Copper Light (Coarse and Fine), and Iridescent Bronze.
Group III: A third group consists of reflective colorants that do not fit the above descriptions, including highly metallic pigments. This group includes Stainless Steel (Coarse and Fine), Micaceous Iron Oxide, and Mica Flakes (all varieties).
GOLDEN Interference Acrylic colors offer artists a range of reflective properties and interplay with light. When viewed from different angles Interference colors "flip" between a bright opalescent color and its complement. Over white or light colored surfaces the Interference color is less obvious and the flip effect is more obvious, over black or dark surfaces the color is more obvious and the flip is less obvious.
Interference colors are relatively transparent, allowing artists the ability to glaze with unique effects. Enhance landscapes with Interference Blue or Interference Green. Add life to wildlife artwork with Interference Red or Interference Violet.
Combine Interference colors with small amounts of color for unique color ranges. Add gels for impasto effects or thin with mediums for glazing applications. Add a very small amount of black to Interference colors to produce deeper, richer, opalescent effects.
Golden High Flow Acrylic
A set of 49 colors, including Fluorescent and Iridescent Colors made with the same ingredients of other GOLDEN Artist Colors paint lines. Formulated with 100% acrylic polymer dispersion, resulting in a durable paint layer with excellent water and chemical resistance. Made with finely ground pigments to reduce clogging issues in small tips and nozzles. Additives such as flow improvers, film levelers and retarders create a very thin and free-flowing paint. Application use ranges from fine line-work to large passages on a variety of surfaces, such as paper, canvas, panel and other artist supports.
GOLDEN HFAs are compatible with most GOLDEN Artist Colors' paints and mediums. They can be added to GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics or GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics to thin the paint without a loss of pigment or film strength. Extend HFAs with GOLDEN Airbrush Transparent Extender as needed. Adding high levels of water are acceptable when doing color stains on absorbent surfaces but additional layers of acrylic medium applied afterword may be required for long term durability.
ADDITIONAL USES
GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics are a slow-drying formulation with a slightly softer consistency than Golden Heavy Body paints. The increased working time of these colors expands their range to include more traditional techniques once only possible with oils.
Because OPEN Acrylics dry slowly, painters who cover their palettes or use sealed containers have been able to use the same colors for weeks, reducing the amount of paint wasted and preserving color mixtures for future use.
OPEN Acrylics resist skinning on the palette during long painting sessions and when painting outdoors. Thin applications of paint tack-up, allowing additional layers to be applied and blended. Thicker applications may be worked for hours, however paint over 1/16" thick will dry EXTREMELY slowly.
GOLDEN has developed a paint that helps artists create immersive fields of color without the distraction of texture and glare. The paint has a flowing consistency, offering exceptional coverage and a leveling capability as it dries. This unique combination of qualities can only be found in SoFlat Matte Acrylic Colors.
Artists have used gouache for centuries because of its matteness and opacity, but are restricted by its inherently sensitive paint film. SoFlat moves beyond these limitations, providing a velvety smooth, durable surface. The advantages of SoFlat are extended by its compatibility with other acrylic paints and mediums, increasing the range of creative effects that can be achieved.
Perhaps the most important quality of SoFlat is quality itself. Because it is produced using the same professional standards as all GOLDEN Acrylics, and is backed by our unrivaled service and support, you can depend on the performance and consistency of these professional artist colors.
OPACITY AND COVERAGE
When striving for that pure color effect, you need a paint that goes down evenly with full intensity in as few coats as possible. While some pigments are naturally transparent, SoFlat has a unique formulation that provides greater opacity from these colors than is normally found in acrylic paints.
LEVELING
Perhaps the most distinctive quality, and the one that might be most unique to SoFlat, is the paints natural leveling quality. The paint relaxes after being brushed out, making it easier to minimize the appearance of brushstrokes for uninterrupted fields of rich matte color.
MATTE
Artists have always been drawn to the enigmatic quality of matte color, and SoFlat delivers with a glare-free surface that allows the depth and intensity of each color take center stage.
Application and Technical Information
While SoFlat’s flowing consistency and excellent coverage make it ideal for painting large areas, it’s also great for detail work. For a uniform, matte finish the best results can be achieved with a soft synthetic flat brush over a smooth substrate. SoFlat can be brushed, spray applied, used in refillable markers and more – see the Product Information Sheet for details.

Acrylic paint is a relatively new medium in the pantheon of artistic media. Developed in the mid part of the 20th century as a house paint, acrylics were first used in the realm art by muralists. It covered large areas fairly quickly and had a much faster drying speed than oil based paints.
Grumbacher acrylic paints follow a chain of artistic evolution. More technologically advanced than the earliest versions of acrylic, Grumbacher colors consist of artist quality pigments uniformly dispersed in an aquaeous acrylic emulsion. The binding vehicle consists of droplets of an acrylic resin suspended in water. As the water evaporates, the droplets of resin combine to form a crystal clear film. This film imparts an exceptional luminosity and vibrancy to the colors.
Grumbacher acrylics provide the artist with a versatile option for painting and crafting. Thinned with water, the paint can be applied in delicate, translucent layers much like watercolor. Straight from the tube, or thickened with a medium, these colors can be applied to a canvas with the same techniques used for oil color. Grumbacher arcylics can be applied to a number of surfaces and are ideal for the student as well as more advanced artists.
Academy Acrylics consist of a broad range of beautiful, brilliant colors which are all compatible with our Grumbacher mediums, gesso and modeling paste. Academy Acrylics meet the specific requirements of artists and crafters alike.

LIQUITEX SPRAY PAINT & VARNISH
- Water-based Technology
- Translucent when wet, clear when dry
- Low Odor
- Permanent and Durable
- Resists discoloring (non-yellowing, non-fogging) due to humidity, heat and ultraviolet light.
- Can be used with Spray Paint, Heavy Body, Soft Body
- Dry to a non-tacky, hard, flexible surface that is resistant to dirt retention
- Hard, archival, non-yellowing and water resistant when dry
- Protects acrylic color from harsh elements
- For interior and exterior use
Spray application
1. Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area at temperatures greater than 5°C.
2. Ensure the artwork is fully dry before applying varnish. Shake can for one minute before use.
3. Hold can 8-10" from the surface. For best results spray artwork flat.
4. When finished spraying, turn can upside down and push spray button for 5 seconds to prevent clogging.
5. Allow at least 12 hours drying between coats of varnish.
Application
- Apply as a final varnish over dry acrylic paint.
- Varnish surface and environment must be clean, dry and dust free.
- Acrylic paintings must be completely dried and cured for 48-72 hours before varnishing.
- Application may be done by brush or spray. Generally a sprayed application will be thinner, smoother and more even. Rolling or sponging application is not recommended.
Caution:
Acrylic paints and mediums become increasingly brittle in cold weather. Do not apply below 60 oF.
Brush and Paint Pad Application
1. Use a wide, soft hair brush or paint pad (vacuum the pad prior to use to remove lint). Size of area to be varnished will determine the size of the applicator. The smaller the surface area, the narrower the brush. Generally, a 1-4" flat brush is used.
2. Apply Liquitex varnish in 1-3 thin coats, rather than 1 thick coat. A thick coat will take longer to dry, may dry cloudy, may drip or sag during application and has a greater chance of showing brush strokes when dry.
3. Horizontal surface application is best with less chance of varnish running. After varnishing, the surface should be shielded with a protective "tent". This will prevent any dust or airborne particles from settling into varnish as it dries.
4. Apply Liquitex varnish in slightly overlapping pattern that covers entire artwork. Apply in horizontal and vertical brush strokes, so that entire area is evenly coated.
5. Do not rework areas you might miss as the brush could pick up partially dried varnish and cause clouding. If areas are missed, wait until the varnish is dry and apply another coat.
6. When applying Liquitex Matte Varnish or Satin Varnish, apply no more than 1-2 thin coats. A thick application may result in cloudiness when dry. If more than 2 coats are desired, first varnish with Gloss Varnish until desired thickness is achieved, then final varnish with matte or satin varnish.
Airbrush Application
Refer to Techniques and search on Airbrushing for more detailed information. Most even application method. Use for textured surfaces (thick impasto, thick textures), where brush application may result in foaming and fragile surfaces (watercolor, tempera, graphite, pastel, gouache), where brush application may disrupt drawing or painted surface.
1. Select air pressure (PSI) depending on air gun used and viscosity of varnish. Greater PSI permits thicker varnish to be sprayed, but may affect fragile surfaces.
2. 2-3 light even coats are better than 1 thick coat.
3. Spray a continuous film by moving the spray gun in a smooth motion from one side of the painting to the other. First coat horizontal, second coat, third coat horizontal, etc.
4. During spray application maintain same distance across the surface of the artwork. Move your body as well as your arm to avoid "arching" motion and uneven application.
Thinning
Do not thin, as it will weaken the varnish film and adhesion.
Removal
Not removable. Do not attempt to remove these varnishes with harsh solvents.

Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic
Since developing the first water based artist acrylic products in 1955, Liquitex has always been concerned with the needs of the professional artist. All Liquitex products are formulated by a unique team of chemists and artists: chemists with a wide array of skills in resin technologies and artists who help us to stay focused on the working properties. This combinations allows us to make the most versatile ranges of intense, highly loaded, permanent colors possible. Liquitex is the only acrylic brand to offer three uniquely different ranges of professional color to suit the needs of the artist. That in mind, range-specific handling characteristics are established so that every Liquitex paint feels just right – never too sticky or slippery. The low-odor acrylic resin base represents the latest in acrylic resin technology, offering increased open time and producing colors of great clarity with very low wet-to-dry value shift. The paint films are highly flexible, durable, non-yellowing, UV resistant, water-resistant and pH neutral when dry. All Liquitex Professional Colors can be intermixed with each other and as well as all Liquitex Mediums.
Heavy Body Artist Color, previously referred to as High Viscosity, has a thick consistency for traditional art techniques using brushes or knives, as well as for experimental, mixed media, collage and printmaking applications. Impasto applications retain crisp brush stroke and knife marks. Good surface drag provides excellent handling and blending characteristics with increased open-working time. High pigment load produces rich, brilliant, permanent color.
Maimeri Acrilico/Acrylic colours, dense and highly workable with a brush, are very easy to use. These colours are an exellent tool for both professional and hobby artist as well as students, considering their very good price quality ratio.
Their characteristic virosity derives from a special, ultra-pure acrylic resin that makes this product suitable even for density techniques. When used pure, without diluting. Maimeri Acrilico makes it very easy to create thick layers. Diluted with a little water or, still better with a Mat Or Gloss Medium, it can be applied with a brus.
The colours in the range are vivid, Bright and clean. The range includes 5 micaceous perlescent shades. They are made with top quality pigments carefully ground. dispersed and stabilised to to obtain intense, bright hues. Once dry the Maimeri Acrilico surface is homogeneous and satinated. Scrupulous formulation and careful dispersion process result in exceptionally bright and clean secondary colours and by delution with water it allows painters to achieve the transparency charactereristic of watercolours. The degree of light resistance and covering power varies in relation to the single pigment nature.
The new acrylic resin and the new formulation make it possible to emphasize the natural characteristics of each pigment, enhancing the relative opacity or transparency, the brightness of the tones granting this colour range a singular luminosity. Made in Italy

Acrylic paints were invented in about 1950 in Mexico. They became quite popular with the emergence of a society of consumers and the Pop Art movement. Acrylics are the most popular paint today because they are easy to dilute with water, they dry quickly and they are resistant to ageing. Pebeo made its mark in the history of acrylics in 1992 with its Studio brand of paints packaged in plastic tubes. These easy-to-use Pebeo acrylics have attracted a constantly growing number of faithful customers.
Properties:
o Colours: Bright, deep, richly pigmented, they can be mixed together and have a satin finish and very good lightfastness

o Cleaning the tools: With water before drying
o Drying: Away from dust, dry to the touch in 30 minutes to 1 hour and completely dry in 1-8 days depending on the thickness
Applications: Studio Acrylics High Viscosity is adapted for working with the material on canvas, cardboard, wood, metal, ... It retains the brush or spatula marks and it is used pure with acrylic mediums or the Studio Auxiliaries which further broaden the creative possibilities.
Studio Acrylics Dyna colours are obtained from effect pigments, called pearl. Pearl pigments are composed of sheets of different materials with different refractive indices, which transmit part of the light and reflect another part, lending the effect obtained: Iridescent or pearl.
When it comes to dimensional work nothing beats Studio High Viscosity acrylic paint, with its thick consistency and satin finish, it retains brush or spatula marks. Studio Fluid Acrylic, which is fluid with a satin finish, is suitable for detailed work. Applied with a brush, it can be used for fine, regular lines, glaze effects and watercolour effects. It is guaranteed free of environmentally harmful heavy metals.
