Sculpture is the act or art of sculpturing or forming in a pliable material such as clay or wax. It is the visual shape and texture of something regarded aesthetically, especially the human face or form. While Modeling is an additive process, as opposed to carving, the other main sculptural teachnique, in which portions of a hard substance are cut away to reveal form. While modeling, the corrections are possible to do, and the result is like fired clay or preserved.
Modeling is essentially a building-up process in which the sculpture grows organically from the inside. Numerous plastic materials are used for modeling. The main ones are clay.Clay are the most common modeling materials, and the artist’s hands are the main tools.

The "make and bake" clay hardens after baking in an oven about 15-30minutes (depending on the size of the project) at 130°C. After baked, it will completely harden and holds its shape. It can be painted with ink or acrylic paint. It is ideal for sculpture and jewelry making. The clay will require some conditioning as it will be very hard and tough initially.
You will need to knead it until it becomes soft and workable, a roller or a pasta machine may be used in softening the clay.
its shelf life is approximately 2 years.
Basic Instruction;
1. Create your own design.
2. Wash hands with soap and water before and after using NARA polymer clay.
3. Choosing the desired colour and knead it in your hnads until it is warm and easy to work with.
4. Shape the clay into yopur choosen design.
5. Put the finished shape into an oven and baked at 265°F (130°C) for 15 to 30 minutes. The baking period may vary depending on the size of the model. Do not put any other accessories into the oven.
6. Leave your creation cool down and use sandpaper to remove any rough area. Painting with acrylic colours can be done (if needed)
Alginate Impression Powder 1lb.
This molding compound forms a rubbery elastomer within minutes of mixing with water. Captures impressive detail, while being flexible enough to prevent entrapment of the hand. It dries and shrinks over time, so it's not suitable for more than a few castings.
There is no need for timing with this unique color changing impression material formula. The mixture changes from pink to while mixing and turns white when it is ready for molding.
Set time: 2 minute average. [Cooler water will extend the setting time and warmer water will shorten it.]
Dust-free; Color-changing
Alginate Based; Non-Toxic; Hypo-Allergenic
Crystalline Silica Free
Once opened, expires approximately 3yrs from date of purchase. (The specific date will be provided on the label). If left in the foil bag, that time is at least double.
Casting Plaster of Paris
Many plasters are available for casting, you can even use the inexpensive local plaster you find in any hardware store.
Plaster Bandage Selections
Plaster bandages are one of the most useful tools when it comes to the art of mold making and casting. The are especially useful in creating shell or mother molds. These are the rigid shells which are laid over mold making rubbers that provide the needed support for casting once the mold is removed from the model.
The most efficient technique in using plaster bandages is to first roll out about four to six inches of a bandage; roll it back on itself, then roll it back once again. That way you will have three layers of bandage in a collapsed "S: shape. Now cut it apart and continue creating 3-ply bandages. Stack them in a pile that is "X" shaped so they will be easy to pick up when you are ready to apply.
A face needs one bandage roll, whereas a front torso needs about eight or nine. Have two bowls of warm water at the ready. Holding a bandage end in each hand, dip the bandage in the water until saturated. As the water in one bowl becomes milky use the second bowl, as continuing to use the milky water will cause the bandages to delaminate later on when you least expect it.
Lift out and gently squeeze out excess water. Apply over the rubber or alginate surface smoothing out so there are no air pockets. Repeat, applying the next bandage, over lapping the first by a third until the rubber surface is covered.
Now take a whetted-out bandage, hold it in one hand and fold length wise in half. Then fold again in quarters. This will be a reinforcement bandage which you will place all around the edge of your plaster bandage shell to reinforce the edges.
In addition, plaster bandages may be applied on the body to create a mold in itself. It will provide less detail than an alginate or silicone mold, but it make for an easier application. It will provide a wonderful "form" mold and is often the choice for belly casting (pregnancy molds).

The principal stone carving tools needed by the sculptor include the point chisel, tooth chisel (rake), the flat straight chisel and a hammer, all of varying sizes and weights. All are forged from high carbon steel and tempered for strength.
The point removes the primary bulk material and comes in three sizes, small, medium and large. All taper down to a four-sided point and the thickness, or size of the point, will be determined by its heaviness. The smaller the size, the finer or lighter the point.
The tooth chisel or rake, for the second stage of removal, is a flat straight chisel with slightly beveled teeth. It is available in four basic widths, the smallest having four teeth, the next five teeth, the next six teeth, and the largest having eight teeth. The tooth chisel is principally used in the geometric reduction of a larger piece of stone.
The flat straight chisel is the finishing tool used before the final abrasive finishing, rasping, and sanding. It has a straight edge with a slight bevel of possibly 30° and is available in three sizes, small, medium, and large.
There are also specialty tools which are not normally used in standard carving but by intermediate and advanced carvers for added assistance in multiple projects. They include:the diamond shaped point, used for parting ferrules width-wise (In stone carving there are no “v” or veining tools as in wood carving; points do this job.);and the rondel, a rounded curved tool used for concave carving; the cutting edge is a round bevel.
Wood carving (in Sculpture) and wood working (in cabinet and furniture making)are two entirely different fields. Although they are similar in many regards, the tools for each are not quite the same. In woodcarving, the bevels on the different tools will have a thinner cutting edges. The steel grade, 1095C (a high carbon steel, tempered or heat treated to harden the steel so it will maintain a sharp edge), will range approximately .59 to .62 on the Rockwell Black Diamond hardness testing device. The handles on wood carving tools are also shorter in length than those in wood working.
The most popular styles of wood carving tools are: straight chisel, with a straight flat edge; straight gouge, with a curved cutting edge which will range in depth; short bent, with a small spoon-like dip used for quick deep cuts; long bent, which will make a long deep cut; straight skew, with a diagonal cutting edge; parting tool or veiner, which is a furrowing tool with a cutting edge that looks like a “v”; and fish tail which flares out on the left and right tips like
